Here I am again, asking for help deciding how to sell something. I have an antique cast iron match safe which is marked "No flies on Green, Joyce & Co. etc." and on the bottom Simpson Iron Co., Columbus, Ohio. I found a mention of Simpson Iron in Columbus in 1901. I have seen flies as match safes and they are not terribly high priced, however, I think this one is special and I am not sure what to do with it. It's about 4.5" long and 2" high. Sell on eBay in the collectible-advertising section, sell in antique-decorative arts-metalware. Or can anyone suggest another venue? Thanks for any help.

sounds to me like you're on the right track.....for either.....just remember it's the title that's most important to get your item found...

Good item for ebay I would think. Advertising would be the more important category.

Several iron, trivet, etc... companies made these type of match safes. Bradley & Hubbard made several different bug match safes. Their 1883-84 catalog has illustrated beetle and fly match safes. Bugs and insect stuff and such were popular conversation pieces in Victorian times.
