It's 2 3/16" tall, 1 5/8" rim diameter, 1 3/16" foot diameter; weight is 58.4 grams. To the right of the word gill is a crown, beneath which is 920; further right is a 3, beneath which is an unintelligible mark, even under a 10X triplet! The interior, including the floor, is quite rough, as though strongly acid-etched...but the seam is smooth a bright, an' very slightly proud to the surface. The bottom is simply marked with another 3.
What can y'all offer about this little cup? Thanks for lookin'!

Every bar in the UK had to have Gill measures for spirits under the Weights & Measures Act.

I would say yours is from 1930's to 1950's.
Saying that I've never seen a One Third, they are usually Quarter, one eighth, one sixteenth etc.

One sold here on eBay.uk, they called it a Bonzer.

I have a Victorian Quarter Gill in Pewter residing in one of my cabinets.

Thanks, Davey...the one in the link is quite similar to mine...but mine has that 'damaged' interior. A third-gill is equivalent to 1.67 US ounces...or just under 50ml; roughly a standard US shot. Bonzer turns out to be an Aussie word, slang for Excellent! Maybe the one in the link was made in...or for...Australia? I sure do like your little quarter-gill pewter jug!

I never heard anyone say Bonzer when I lived in Aussie:D and I only heard one old timer say Fair Dinkum, once :D
Australia had the same weights & measures until 1971 onwards.
