    Hi.

Here is a lamp i picked up today.i think its unusual.it is made of reed i think and has a type of material in centre on two sides which is attractive when lit.am wondering what this material might be.This is how i found it,a few of the reeds are loose but just need to be pushed back into place.

Has anyone any info on this type of lamp.

It measures approx 19 inches high by 11 inches by 6 inches

    Thanks for any comments or info. 20241030_170436_resize_41.jpg 20241030_170458_resize_47.jpg 20241030_170514_resize_9.jpg 20241030_170523_resize_57.jpg 20241030_170535_resize_93.jpg 20241030_170554_resize_54.jpg

I think they are what are known as capiz shells.

Yes, they are capiz shells, used a lot in Indonesia and the Philippines.
This style lamp is fashionable overhere in the Netherlands, but I haven't seen them with capiz shells yet. (Not that I have looked.) It is a nice combination.

When I wanted to check the name of the shells, I searched for shell wind chimes.

I can tell you they were/are very common in the Philippines. My father used to sell them.
